My Report On The BlackBerry Bold OS 5.0.0.348

Last Updated: 18 November 2009 at 12:57

WARNING: 08:30 – Getting reboots from the 5.0.0.348 upgrade! Phone reboots after 3 minutes. I am still watching the events and checking to see if I can some how pinpoint the reason why its happening. It is intermittent, so at the time of writing it has been up and stable for about 10 minutes. Will update later. Just a warning note.

Update: 12:55 – I’ve had the phone working now for over 4 hours and it has not rebooted again. All I did was pull the battery.

Hello once again. Well I have done yet another 5.0 beta OS upgrade on my BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone. I had initially done the 5.0.0.238 OS upgrade and wrote about it in my article My Report On The BlackBerry Bold OS 5.0, which has been a huge success with the readers. Some using it as the  reason to make the plunge into the 5.0 OS. Well since that time, there has been two other OS beta release, version 5.0.0.314 and 5.0.0.348. I decided to skip .314 as I didn’t think there would have been much changes.

My most trusted security firm, Symantec, has informed that there is a new trojan that encrypts files on infected computers, preventing access to these files and offering no way of getting in touch with the “owner” of the virus in an attempt to restore your files.

Planning Storage Capacity for Your Exchange Server

27 October 2009 Kirrin Comments off

As a Systems/Network Administrator the hardware that you configure for your Exchange server is one that you’re hoping to get at least 3 good years out of it. Its very dishearten, and in some cases annoying to have to go back to your boss within a year to say that you need to upgrade your storage capacity. This can affect your credibility with your boss (especially if you’re new to the organization or your boss). I will try to give you a bit of advice based on my experience and how I went about calculating storage capacity and some measures that I put in place to maintain the ability to have my users get their e-mails, while staying within the physical storage limits.

22 October 2009 Kirrin 2 comments

In our work and personal lives, we send or receive at least 10 e-mails per day, some people send at least 5 times that amount and receive just as much. With all those e-mails zipping around in cyberspace and hopping from e-mail server to e-mail server, there will surely be a time when someone will make a mistake or a server will be offline and the result is what is known as a non-delivery report (NDR). I will try to help you to decipher what a NDR is and what should be done.
